Münzer Wholesale – The Story

We supply your accessories for arts & crafts and jewelry design. We have been doing so reliably and competently for 45 years – and as of January 2023, are now in the 2nd generation.

I still remember a picture of myself at my parents' company. I was 4 or 5 years old, allowed to sit between a stack of boxes, eat a banana, and be right in the middle of the hustle and bustle. It's a picture that I can now recreate with my own daughter, as I am now the owner of the company.

With this, I want to tell you my personal story with Münzer Wholesale. But I also want to show you that my parents managed to found a company while raising 3 children and develop it, even through economically difficult times, to the point where it can now be successfully passed on to the second generation.

We are always personally available to you – even for feedback or if you need to defer a payment during stressful times.

For our customers, we want to be more than just an anonymous supplier. Through our collaboration, you create beautiful things from your creative ideas and our accessory parts, with valuable added benefits for your customers.  

So, who are "we" anyway?

I – the little tyke between the boxes back then – am Johanna Münzer. As of January 2023, I am the happy successor and proud owner of Münzer Wholesale. Born in 1989 as the third child, my siblings and I practically grew up with entrepreneurship. Literally: there was even a crib for me at the company. I pursued my education and professional career with the goal of one day taking over my parents' company.

My parents, Ralf and Renate Münzer, are two people with creative vision, the courage to be self-employed, and incredible perseverance and solidarity. Without these qualities, the company certainly wouldn't have been around since 1977.

As a trained toolmaker and a professional hotel manager, my parents complemented each other perfectly in business, each benefiting from the other's strengths. Building a company as a married couple with three small children—many would call it madness. I find it truly remarkable!

I joined the company as an employee in 2014. And as we 'young and wild' ones can be, I wanted to change everything at once, and then some. I was met with some resistance, not only from my parents, but also from the economic realities of running a business, which brought me back down to earth.

And I could say that everything went wonderfully in the collaboration between parents, child, and employees. But that wouldn't be true—and that's a good thing. As the saying goes: friction creates warmth. In our case, it was a productive warmth, a drive for implementation that helped both our company and us as individuals to grow.

My parents are passing the company on to me with a good feeling, knowing they have created something that will now be modernized, but not revolutionized, in its second generation.

I look forward to taking on the responsibility for Münzer Wholesale, with my parents as backup and an incredibly strong team.
